United Way Suncoast and United Way of Manatee County Annual Day of Caring Thursday, October 3rd, 2013 VOLUNTEERS COME TOGETHER AS ONE FOR DAY OF CARING. For the past 20 years, United Way’s Day of Caring has joined caring community members with community agencies, schools and other organizations that need them. Last year, 212 projects were completed from over 100 corporate teams and organizations across Hillsborough, Pinellas and Sarasota counties. These corporate volunteers were able to add a value $492,907* back to the community. Day of Caring 2013 will now be taking place in the following five counties: DeSoto, Hillsborough, Manatee, Pinellas and Sarasota Counties. This year will bring you and your volunteer team together with projects most agencies could never undertake on their own. From weeding and planting at a neighborhood school, to scrubbing and painting the walls at a daycare or conducting mock interviews for low-income job seekers – whatever you and your teams choose, you’ll be the architects that help us build a better Suncoast Region. **The Independent Sector, a leadership forum for charities, foundations and corporate giving programs, calculated the value of a volunteer in 2012 at $22.14 per hour. Even if you can’t participate on October 3rd this year, you can make everyday a Day of Caring by visiting www.volunteersuncoast.org or call Philip Harris, Director of Community Service & Public Policy for United Way HandsOn Suncoast at (813) 274-0938 for more information.
