Community Garden [HIL]
Cornerstone Family Ministries' Community Garden @ Ybor was formed in 2018 with seed funding from United Methodist Women National, NOMADs, The Florida Department of Agriculture and several private donors to address the need for community education and access to fresh fruits and vegetables in one of Tampa’s known food desert areas known as Ybor City. The garden was established for Cornerstone’s program partners serving at-risk children in close proximity to our Ybor City location. The garden is a place where children and their educators and families can learn about where food comes from, how it grows, how to take it home and prepare it, and how it fuels our bodies. It is also a place where our program partners and the families they serve can connect with the larger community to make a positive impact. A successful community garden requires continued general maintenance to ensure that our crops thrive and are planted and harvested in a timely manner. As a garden volunteer some of your tasks would include watering, weeding, pruning/thinning, staking (creating vertical support for the crops), fertilizing, feeding, planting and harvesting
Age Minimum (with Adult): 13+, Minimum Age:13+
