Mentor a Student and They Earn a Scholarship! [HIL]
A Hillsborough Education Foundation (HEF) Mentor’s purpose is to provide a stable, trustworthy adult presence that the student may not otherwise have in their life. Mentors are role models that provide emotional support, foster confidence and a positive self-image, and facilitate academic goal setting and college readiness for a student. As a mentor, you’ll spend just 2 hours per month with your student—but the difference you make will last a lifetime.
We provide workbooks, activities, and other resources to facilitate discussions between mentor and mentee about the mentee’s goals, college plans, and how to achieve the career the mentee desires. Topics include: time management, goal setting, perseverance, grit, responsibility, gratitude, and others.
Mentors meet at least twice a month during the academic year with their student at the student’s school.
Mentoring is an amazing experience for both mentor and mentee. Our staff works with each mentor to find a student that you connect with as well as in a school that is nearby your work, home, or school.
