ROBOTICON Tampa Bay!

ROBOTICON Tampa Bay, held October 12 and 13 this year,  is organized each fall by the Foundation for Community Driven Innovation, a nonprofit educational organization, in partnership with the University of South Florida and Hillsborough County, FL and other fine community partners.  Held at the Yuengling Center at the University of South Florida, the goal of ROBOTICON is to create a fun, high-quality team-based competitive robotics event that inspires youth through its mentor supported, hands-on skill building experience, to increase public awareness and engagement for new youth and their families, and to help create pathways for networking, training, and college and career readiness experiences for participating students.  The all volunteer produced, free public event annually draws over 4000 people between participants and public guests.

October 11 is set up day for the event, which includes assembling the volleyball sized competition field for the high school level robotics competitions that will take place over the following two days, setting up pit tables for 60 K-12 teams, and tables for the Industry Showcase exhibits, setting up team registration areas, classrooms and workshop spaces,  putting up signage throughout the Yuengling Center, and a variety of other tasks associated with preparing for a large, high energy youth event.  Breakfast, lunch and snacks will be provided and t-shirts are available for those volunteering for more than 4 hours.

October 13 is the take-down of the event, which includes disassembling the various items listed above to help restore the arena to the pre-rental state.
