Food and Hygiene Sorting & Packing Projects [PIN]

St. Petersburg Free Clinic provides food, shelter and health care to our neighbors in need throughout Pinellas County. We invite you to join us on January 18th to be a part of this mission!

To honor of the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr, St. Petersburg Free Clinic is hosting a special service project on Monday, January 18.

Join us at our downtown St. Petersburg location from 10:00am until 2:00pm for a Food and Hygiene Items Sorting & Packing Project.  The project will entail sorting non-perishable food items and hygiene items, and then packing them for distribution through our drive-thru FRESH Pantry.

St. Petersburg Free Clinic's We Help FRESH Pantry is now a drive-through program that is designed for maximum safety during the COVID crisis.  Thousands of Pinellas County families visit our FRESH Food Pantry each month, many of them reaching out for help for the first time in their lives.  This new drive-through system requires prep work to pre-package certain food and hygiene items for speedy distribution to the hundreds of cars (and dozens of walkers and bicyclers!) each week.

This is a small-scale project, designed with safety in mind for all participating volunteers and Free Clinic staff. The group size is set to twelve participants max, plus 2 staffers.  Masks are required at all times and participants will receive temperature checks upon arrival.  Participating volunteers should be prepared to lift up to 30 pounds and be on your feet moving and lifting.

While the Free Clinic is following all guidelines and best practices to keep our volunteers, clients and staff safe and healthy, we want to emphasize that when you choose to volunteer during this critical time, you are accepting some risk due to the COVID-19 health crisis.
