9/11 Day of Service at The Franciscan Center [HIL]
Teens age 13-15 are required to attend with an adult.
Since 2013, the Franciscan Center has been offering “Operation Restore”, a monthly 4-day retreat designed to provide healing and renewal for first responders, military personnel, and veterans. The program offers a safe, confidential environment for individuals to work through their most critical incidents and process the cumulative stress of risking their lives throughout their careers. Participants return to their lives with a renewed sense of self, resiliency, and well-being.
Volunteers will create a “First Responders Peace Garden” that will provide our retreat guests with a place for quiet reflection, meditation, and stillness. This garden will provide nourishment and safety for butterflies, creating an ideal spot for peaceful rest and enjoyment. Work may include planting native plants, mulching existing plants and building paths, or building furniture for rest. All supplies will be provided and volunteer assignments and details will be provided on-site.
All volunteers will need to follow the current CDC Guidelines regarding social distancing and are required to wear a face mask.
Age Minimum (with Adult): 13+, Minimum Age:13+
