3rd Annual Sulphur Springs Block Party [HIL]
United Way Suncoast is excited to present the 3rd Sulphur Springs Lit(erature) Block Party! This collaborative event brings various forms of art, music, and literature to families in Sulphur Springs. It is not the typical provider resource fair, rather an opportunity for organizations to creatively engage with families and build relationships without an agency agenda (no flyers, brochures, or referrals). It is a celebration of neighbors meeting neighbors, building social connections and support around the arts. Everything is free to residents.
Performers will take the stage to showcase their talent on spoken word, poetry, storytelling, music, dance and more. Along with 30 vendors on the block, a dee-jay with bookends of music, we have raffles throughout the event, BBQ and books, books, books for all ages. Exposure and participation in the arts helps children strengthen critical thinking and problem solving, increases creativity, and improves self-esteem. The love of reading builds language skills, promotes curiosity, empathy, and a connection to the world.
Volunteers are needed to assist with:
- Registration tables
- Food and book distribution
- Vendor assistance with games and activities
- Parking information for residents
- Event set up and breakdown (stage, tents, tables and chairs).
Please check your email prior to heading to the project. If there is heavy rain in the forecast, the event will be setup a block away at Springhill Community Park and an email will be sent out to all registered volunteers that morning.
