Reading & Activities with Children: 9/11 Week of Service 2026 [HIL]

The September 11 Week of Service and Remembrance is an opportunity to honor the sacrifices made on that day by remembering the heroes, armed forces, first responders, and countless others whose acts of courage and service helped defend our nation's freedom. Through service, we pay tribute to those we lost and carry forward the spirit of unity, compassion, and community that emerged in the aftermath of September 11.
United Way Suncoast is proud to offer this volunteer opportunity as part of our annual 9/11 Week of Remembrance & Service. This project supports our United We Learn initiative, which works to ensure that children from all backgrounds have access to high-quality childcare and early education. Research shows that high-quality early learning experiences help put children on a path toward future academic success and lifelong opportunity.
Volunteers will spend time engaging with young children at Lola's Daycare by reading stories, participating in classroom activities, and helping create a positive and enriching learning environment. These meaningful interactions help foster a love of learning, build confidence, and support children's early development.
