Operation Code Vet - Volunteer to Support Veterans [HIL]
Operation Code Vet was launched in 2017 to help military veterans whose homes or property has fallen into disrepair.
Led by Hillsborough County Code Enforcement, Operation Code Vet is a partnership with different agencies, non-profit organizations, and businesses. The groups provide volunteers, equipment, and other resources to fix home and yard problems that otherwise could lead to citations and fines.
Current volunteer opportunities include:
- Internship – office duties to include filing and organizing volunteers
- Painters – anywhere from professionals to novice, interior and exterior
- Debris Removal – could be yard debris or large furniture and appliances
- Landscapers – mowing grass, edging, removing overgrowth, pressure washing
- Cleaners – from basic household cleaning to unmaintained properties
- Sweat Equity – everyone can’t help as much as they would like but ANY sweat helps a vet in need
