VITA 2026 Tax Preparer Orientation: Virtual (2+ years experience)
Orientation is required for all volunteers who prepare taxes with the program.
This 2-hour virtual session is designed to prepare experienced volunteers with 2+ years with VITA for their vital role in supporting underserved communities through free tax preparation services.
Supported by the IRS, this orientation provides a comprehensive overview of:
- Your responsibilities as a VITA Tax Preparer Updates to current tax laws
- Quality assurance, confidentiality, and ethical standards
- Client interaction skills and cultural competency
- Code of conduct and problem-solving techniques
- Teamwork and the importance of ongoing learning throughout the tax season
- Do not register for multiple sessions.
- A session link will be emailed a few days in advance.
- Registration closes 24 hours prior to the session.
- If the session is full, please join the waitlist to be notified if a spot becomes available.
