VITA 2026 IRS Certification In-Person: Jan 15 & 16

VITA volunteers are invited to participate in a 2-day in-person training session designed to support preparation for IRS certification exams and enhance the quality of service provided to taxpayers using the free tax program.

This session will guide volunteers through the process of preparing basic tax returns accurately and in compliance with IRS guidelines. It covers key federal tax laws applicable to individuals and provides hands-on instruction using IRS-approved tax preparation software.

At the end of the series, volunteers will have the opportunity to complete the following IRS certification exams:

  • Standards of Conduct
  • Intake/Quality Review
  • Advanced Exam
Registration Instructions: Please register for both sessions by checking the box labeled: “I want to sign up for multiple shifts.”

Details:
  • Session Format: In-person (Hillsborough)
  • Must attend both sessions
  • Thursday, January 15 9am - 5pm
  • Friday, January 16 9am - 5pm

Important Notes
  • This training is intended for Tax Preparers and Site Coordinators only.
  • Do not register for multiple training series.
  • A session link will be emailed a few days before the first session.
  • Registration closes 24 hours prior to the start of the session.
  • If the session is full, join the waitlist to be notified if a spot becomes available.
