A Fresh Coat of Hope: 9/11 Week of Service 2026 [PIN]

The September 11 Week of Service and Remembrance is an opportunity to honor the sacrifices made on that day by remembering the heroes, armed forces, first responders, and countless others whose acts of courage and service helped defend our nation's freedom. Through service, we pay tribute to those we lost and carry forward the spirit of unity, compassion, and community that emerged in the aftermath of September 11.
United Way Suncoast is proud to offer this volunteer opportunity with The Caring About Living Individuals (CALI) Project as part of our annual 9/11 Week of Service & Remembrance. (CALI) Project's mission is to provide affordable housing to low income individuals and to equip them with the resources, skills, and confidence they need to build independent, financially secure and successful futures. Volunteers will help refresh the exterior of CALI's transitional living home for girls who are aging out of the foster care system and beginning their journey toward independence. By painting and other beautification efforts, you will create an environment that is warm, inviting, and filled with hope.

Volunteer Tasks

  • Painting the exterior of the transitional living home
  • Assisting with light beautification projects around the property
  • Weeding and gardening flower beds

Youth 13+14 can volunteer with a guardian and youth 15+ can volunteer without a guardian.
Thank you for volunteering and helping us honor the legacy of service associated with September 11.
