The Deuces Community Beautification Project: 9/11 Week of Service 2026 [PIN]

The September 11 Week of Service and Remembrance is an opportunity to honor the sacrifices made on that day by remembering the heroes, armed forces, first responders, and countless others whose acts of courage and service helped defend our nation's freedom. Through service, we pay tribute to those we lost and carry forward the spirit of unity, compassion, and community that emerged in the aftermath of September 11.
United Way Suncoast is proud to offer this volunteer opportunity with The Deuces Live, Inc. as part of our annual 9/11 Week of Service & Remembrance. By giving your time, you'll help strengthen community resiliency, support food access initiatives, and preserve a historic cultural corridor.
The Deuces Live, Inc. is dedicated to revitalizing the historic 22nd Street South corridor in St. Petersburg — once the epicenter of Black life, business, and culture during segregation. Volunteers will work together to beautify community spaces, enhance the Deuces Live Food Forest, and help preserve one of Florida's most significant African American business districts.

Volunteer Tasks May Include:

• Litter removal and corridor cleanup
• Light landscaping and beautification projects
• Weeding, mulching, planting, and watering in the Deuces Live Food Forest
• General grounds maintenance and community enhancement activities
• Preparing public spaces for upcoming community events

Other Details:

• Volunteers should wear comfortable clothing, closed-toe shoes, and sun protection suitable for outdoor service. 
• Drinking water, work gloves, cleanup materials, and project supplies will be provided.

Youth 13 and older can volunteer with a guardian.
