25th Anniversary 9/11 Remembrance Event: 9/11 Week of Service [MAN]

The September 11 Week of Service and Remembrance is an opportunity to honor the sacrifices made on that day by remembering the heroes, armed forces, first responders, and countless others whose acts of courage and service helped defend our nation's freedom. Through service, we pay tribute to those we lost and carry forward the spirit of unity, compassion, and community that emerged in the aftermath of September 11.

United Way Suncoast is proud to offer this volunteer opportunity with The Boys & Girls Clubs of Manatee County, in partnership with New College, to support this 25th Anniversary 9/11 Remembrance Event. This special program will honor Kay Daniels, the Sarasota teacher and Manatee County resident who was with President George W. Bush when he learned of the September 11 attacks while visiting her classroom. The ceremony will feature remarks from Mayors Gene Brown and Dan West, Manatee County Commissioners, the Superintendents of Manatee and Sarasota Counties, and student performances from local schools. The program will take place from 8:00–8:45 AM at the Palmetto Marriott, ending before 8:46 AM as a symbolic tribute to the lives forever changed on September 11, 2001.

Volunteer tasks:

• Assist with event setup
• Welcome and greet guests
• Help direct attendees into the ballroom
• Provide general event support

Volunteers should arrive by 7:15 AM. This is a meaningful opportunity to serve our community while helping create a respectful and memorable experience for all who attend.
