Home Repairs: 9/11 Week of Service [HIL]

The September 11 Week of Service and Remembrance is an opportunity to honor the sacrifices made on that day by remembering the heroes, armed forces, first responders, and countless others whose acts of courage and service helped defend our nation's freedom. Through service, we pay tribute to those we lost and carry forward the spirit of unity, compassion, and community that emerged in the aftermath of September 11.

United Way Suncoast is proud to offer this volunteer opportunity with Strongward as part of our annual 9/11 Week of Service & Remembrance. Volunteers will work alongside our team to help move local families and communities closer to recovery following disaster. Projects may include a variety of hands-on rebuilding and recovery activities based on the needs of our active sites. This is a great opportunity to make a tangible difference, learn more about long-term disaster recovery, and connect with others committed to helping our community rebuild stronger than before.

Volunteer Tasks May Include

  • Exterior/Interior painting
  • Flooring and baseboard installation
  • Other home repairs as needed
No experience is needed as our team does an amazing orientation and safety tool training. Volunteer opportunities are available September 9, 10, and 11, with a maximum of 10 volunteers each day. Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged!
