Camp Kangaroo 2019 - Hillsborough [HIL]

Camp Kangaroo is a free camp experience providing a supportive and therapeutic environment for children who have experienced the death of someone close to them. Led by Dedicated Professionals and trained volunteers from Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care, Camp Kangaroo provides a unique opportunity for campers to build relationships with one another helping them to feel less alone in their loss. Participants will receive grief education and emotional support combined with fun camp activities. Volunteers Needed: We are looking for high energy, compassionate individuals to volunteer as Roo Buddies or as Camp Volunteers. Roo Buddies are assigned to one group all weekend and support the trained counselors throughout the eight group sessions. Camp Volunteers assist with the following: Assist Counselors during scheduled activities Assist children with various activities Meal Prep/Serving/Set-Up/Tear Down Arts & Crafts Sports Activities Training Requirements: - Virtual Modules - Training - Background/Fingerprints (paid for by Seasons) - Training will be held 2 weeks prior to Camp DATES Friday, November 1: 5:00PM – 8:30PM Saturday, November 2: 8:30AM – 5:00PM Sunday, November 3: 1:00PM – 6:00PM For more information please contact me at Aflores@seasons.org

Special Olympics Florida State Stand Up Paddle Competition [SAR]

Special Olympics Florida is hosting the 2019 State Stand-Up Paddle Championships at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Florida on Saturday, August 24, 2019. Hundreds of athletes from across the state will be competing in this Championships and we rely on volunteers to make this event possible. Volunteers will be assisting with the following duties: · Assist with general areas including awards and results, serving as timers and helping with logistics for the overall event. Shifts are available or volunteers can stay all day. T-shirts and lunch will be provided to all volunteers. · Saturday, August 24 – 7:00 am-12:00 pm · Saturday, August 24 - 11:00 am-4:00 pm · Or volunteers are welcome to stay the entire day from 7:00am-4:00 pm

Back To School Carnival [HIL]

GFWC Tampa Junior Women’s Club is partnering with Children’s Services to provide a Back to School Carnival for youth in our residential programs. With entertainment and food, the event provides a fun way to engage youth clients and focus on the importance of getting a good education. It serves as a kick-off party for a successful school year. We will need volunteers to assist in the following ways: Decoration/Set-up (begins at 8am) Game station management (monitor teens play and giving tickets as winnings) Prize table monitor & winning ticket verification

Habitat ReStore in Brandon [HIL]

Habitat ReStore The Habitat ReStore sells donated building materials, furniture and appliances at discounted prices to the public and all profits go directly towards Habitat Hillsborough housing programs. Typical volunteer activities include indoor/outdoor reorganization, merchandising (i.e. restocking, product consolidation), and moving items onto the floor. Some heavy lifting may be necessary but will not be asked to lift more than they are able to. Construction Volunteer Opportunity [HIL]

Whispering Oaks Bingo Party [Hil]

Play bingo and have an ice cream social with the elderly/disabled patients. Before signing up for this project by clicking on “Sign up for this project”, any volunteer under the age of 18 will also need to print out a minor release form for this project. The volunteer’s parent or guardian must sign it. Bring the completed form with you to the project.

Teaching Tools for Hillsborough Schools [HIL]

Do you have a passion for helping connect kids to greatness? If so, Teaching Tools for Hillsborough Schools needs your help! A program through the Hillsborough Education Foundation provides free school supplies year-round to economically disadvantaged students attending Hillsborough County Public Schools designated as Title I. Ensure that the classrooms in Hillsborough County have the basic tools for learning. Volunteers will assist teachers in shopping for a variety of items. Minors 13+ may volunteer with an adult. Must be 15 to volunteer alone on this project. Ronald McDonald House [Hil]

Come try out your culinary talents at The House, a "home away from home" for families of children who are patients of local hospitals. Help make them a home cooked meal after a long day. The Project Leader will contact you with items you can bring for the meal. A minor 14+ may attend this project with an adult. To register a volunteer under the age of 18, the parent needs to create a team through their online profile. The teen would then be added as a team member. The parent can then sign up as a team and it will automatically add the teen to the project.

Meals On Wheels [Hil]

Volunteers will be working together in a kitchen to put a variety of food cups, and many other things that will later be delivered to the homebound clients. Before signing up for this project by clicking on “Sign up for this project”, any volunteer under the age of 18 will also need to print out a minor release form for this project. The volunteer’s parent or guardian must sign it. Bring the completed form with you to the project. Volunteers must wear closed toe shoes, pants (no shorts) and a 3/4 sleeve shirt to work in the kitchen.

Hope Lodge Game Night [Hil]

Volunteers will host a game night at the Lodge. The Hope Lodge is a place that houses cancer patients and their care takers for free while the patients are receiving treatment. Volunteers 15 to 18 can do this project with a parent/guardian. But must be 18 to do this alone.

Habitat Build [Pin]

Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas County wants you to come out on a Saturday morning and help build a home for a needy family. No experience necessary -they provide training. Learn new skills, meet and work with new and interesting people. Have fun too! The address of where you will be building will be emailed to you by your Project Leader closer to the date. Build Day: • Wear close toed and closed heeled shoes • Bring a lunch and a bottle for water (water provided on site) • All tools are provided on site • Please be prompt • Carpool if possible, parking can be limited
