Seniors in Service at The Franciscan Center - 9/11 Day of Service
The Franciscan Center has been a place of peace and hospitality to the Tampa Bay community and beyond for nearly 50 years. Our retreat center hosts thousands of guests annually and our programming serves a wide range of audiences. Our 8 acres of serenity on the Hillsborough river provide our guests with a place to be calm, still, and thoughtful.
We have several outdoor spaces including a riverside pavilion, a first responders peace/butterfly garden, a labyrinth on site designed in the style of the Chartres labyrinth in the French cathedral, and a riverfront walkway with seating. Our volunteer project would include tidying up and refreshing these outdoor spaces. Projects could include weeding, mulching, painting, cleaning, planting, etc.
Volunteers will follow CDC guidelines regarding social distancing and face masks are required.
If volunteers have gloves and hand tools to help with pruning and cutting, it would be great to bring those to the project.
